Successful Marketing Tip: Know Your Target Audience

Updated: Aug 20

I’ve taken a lot of meetings due to the owner of the company being a fan of one of the properties I represent. Sometimes it’s the right match, but more often than not, it isn’t. Your customers don’t always have the same taste that you do. You also need to be careful with your belief that your target demographic is everyone. While it’s true, more than likely everyone can be a customer, it doesn’t mean that’s how you should market. Instead, pay attention to your consumers and be able to describe the average person that you sell your good to. A sample of a few questions to ask yourself:

Are they male or female or is it a 50/50 split?

Are they typically 25-35, 25-54, 18-24?

What are their interests?

What types of income do they make?

Are they college graduates?

The more of these types of questions that you can answer will lead you to a better marketing plan which leads to better ROI on your marketing efforts.
